NNPC says no plan to increase fuel price

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said that the report in the media that an increase in fuel price by the Federal Government was in the offing was not true.

The NNPC Group Managing Director (GMD), Maikanti Baru, told the State House correspondents shortly after the meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja today (Monday) that it was wrong.

At about 4:15pm after the meeting, journalists approached the GMD for an interview. Although he did not grant the interview, he told the reporters as he walked past that “there is nothing like that.”

Also, when the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, was asked to comment on the same issue, he simply said: “Have you seen any memo to that effect? Go to PPRA and confirm.”
