CAMCONIA to deliberate on impacts of PR on insurance
The Corporate Affairs Committee of the Nigeria Insurers Association (CAMCONIA) said the focus of its 2016 annual retreat which is the ‘Impact of Public Relations on Insurance & Risk Management’ could not have come at the right time, especially with a key role public relations is playing in insurance and risk management in the country.
A statement from the group, signed by Its Chairman, Mr. Tunde Odeyemi, and made available to Business247 News Online, states that the forum will hold from 15th-18th September, 2016 in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The three-day event will be declared open by the Director-General of the Nigeria Insurers Association, Mr. Sunday Thomas. Other expected dignitaries at the opening ceremony of the event include Hon. Adedayo Adeneye, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ogun State and Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Ogun State. The Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor, Hon. Semiu Alao is also expected to grace the occasion.
To lead the discussion at the retreat, which is expected to improve the knowledge of the practitioners, is President and Chairman of Council, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Rotimi Oladele, who will be taking the participants on Communication Driven Structure and Governance, Branding & Demand Creation, Stakeholder Mapping for Corporate Success, amongst other topics. The Chairman of Ogun State Chapter of NIPR, Mr. Tope Adaramola, will also facilitate a session on Etiquette, Poise and Protocol for Contemporary Corporate Communication Managers.
According to Odeyemi, who is also the Head of Corporate Communications of Staco Insurance Plc, the aim of the retreat is to enable the members brainstorm on the various challenges facing increased awareness of the insurance industry in Nigeria and how, as image-managers, CAMCONIA can develop strategies to increase public awareness of insurance and its usefulness to the Nigerian society.
