109 Lagos retirees get N582m pensions

The Lagos State Government has released N582.19 million for the payment of 109 retirees’ entitlements for the month of March.
A statement from the Lagos State Pension Commission explained that since the beginning of the administration of the incumbent Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, the state has paid 5,956 retirees.
It stated that the retirees were from the mainstream civil service, local governments and state Universal Basic Education Board, Teachers’ Establishment Pensions Office and other parastatals of government.
The Director-General, LASPEC, Mrs. Folashade Onanuga, while congratulating the retirees at the 37th retirement benefit bond certificate presentation ceremony in Lagos, reportedly said that the Contributory Pension Scheme would be 10 years in Lagos State in April, 2017.
She revealed further that some activities have been lined up to commemorate a decade of its existence in the state.
The Assistant Director, Technical, LASPEC, Mr. Olawale Otun, explained during the bond presentation the benefit options available under the CPS to the retirees.
