Fayose asks FG to increase corps members’ monthly allowance to N50, 000

The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has asked the Federal Government to increase the monthly allowance of Corps members in the country from N19,800 to N50,000.
He made the appeal in Ise Ekiti during the closing ceremony of the orientation course of the 2017 batch “A” stream 2.
The Governor who represented by Lanre Ogunsuyi, his Commissioner for Information, Youths and Sports, said: “Nigerians must collectively join me to mandate the Federal Government to increase the allowance from N19,800 to N50,000.
“On our part, the Ekiti government will provide all the necessary support for the Corps members to make their service year memorable in the state.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) State Coordinator, Ukagha Eze, charged the corps members to see themselves as leaders of tomorrow.
“I want to charge all Corps members to always see themselves as leaders of tomorrow and stay away from corruption during and after the service year,” she said.
On the security of Corps members, the Permanent Secretary State Ministry of Information, Kola Ajumobi assured corps members deployed to the state of safety in their national assignment.
“Ekiti State is the most peaceful state in Nigeria, Corps members can tour the 16 local governments of the state any time they like, they are very safe,” he said.
The corps members’ allowance was increased by former president Goodluck Jonathan in July 2011, from N9,775 to N19,800.
