Investors continue recouping losses, gain N242bn

Investors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continue to enjoy price appreciation that has been their lot since the commencement of the new forex policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria, even as they gained  N242 billion in Wednesday transactions.

From N10.105 trillion on Tuesday, the Market Capitalisation rose to N10.347 trillion on Wednesday even as the All-Share Index which closed on Tuesday at 29,422.71, it came to 30,127.82 basis points at the end of Wednesday trading.  The market witnessed a total of 541.870 million shares valued at N7.930 billion in 5,727.00.

The top-five most appreciated on the day was led by  NESTLE which came to the market at N816 and closed at N832 as it gained N16; DANGCEM came at N185 and closed at N194.25 having added N9.25; GUINNESS opened at N104 closed at N106.45 as it gained N2.45; 7UP from N138, it closed at N140 as it added N2.00; even as GLAXOSMITH added N1.68 and from N16.53, it closed at 18.21.

On the other hand, WAPCO led the losers for the day and from its opening value of N77.9, it closed at N73.51 as it was marked down by N4.39; SEPLAT which was marked down by N1.03 closed at 348.97 from its opening value of N350.00 per share. CONOIL which opened the market at N21.85 closed at 20.96          having marked down by N0.89; CCNN which opened at N8.00 closed at N7.45 as it depreciated by N0.55 per share while MOBIL from the opening value of N169.5     , it closed at N169 as it lost N0.5.

GUARANTY emerged most traded stock with 96.350 million shares at the value attached of N2. 233 billion; ACCESS                 followed with 83.998 million shares valued at N523.415 million; ZENITHBANK traded 59.997 million shares in  N1.024 billion while UBA 57.852 million shares in N290.844millio and TRANSCORP, 39.421 million shares at N69.750 million.
