Equities market continues free fall as investors lose N108bn in two days

Trading in equities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continued on Tuesday in the negative territory where it opened the week on Monday.  The All-Share Index and Market Capitalization which opened the week at 26,170.88 basis points and ₦9.009 trillion respectively closed the day at 25,857.06 and ₦8.901 trillion respectively as investors recorded a loss of N108 billion in two days.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization decreased by 0.50 per cent on Monday, while the Year-to-Date return stood at -9.72 per cent.

Volume traded increased by 17.91 per cent from 160.908 million to 189.726 million, while the total value of stock traded decreased by 18.90 per cent from ₦1.116 billion to ₦0.905 billion in 2,417 deals.

The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 160.351 million shares exchanged for ₦0.346 billion. Oil And Gas came next with 12.593 million shares traded for ₦0.172 billion, Consumer Goods, Conglomerates, Services sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.

Stdinsure, UCAP, FBNH, Eterna and UBA were the most active stocks by volume. Custodyins, Airservice, NAHCO, NASCON and Guaranty emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while Wapco, Conoil, Oando, Transcorp and Intbrew topped the losers chart.
