Nigerian bourse opens bearish on Monday as investors lose N42bn

Trading transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened the week in the red territory as the market All-Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization decreased by 0.47 per cent, while the year-to-date return stood at -4.64 per cent as investors jointly recorded a loss of N42 billion on Monday.
The All-Share Index closed at 25,626.37 against the previous close of 25,746.52 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦8.867 trillion against previous close of ₦8.909 trillion.
Volume traded increased by 77.73 per cent from 107.936 million to 191.835 million, while the total value of stock traded decreased by 35.58 per cent from ₦0.908 billion to ₦0.585 billion in 2,626 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 148.466 million shares exchanged for ₦0.277 billion. Consumer Goods came next with 19.843 million shares traded for ₦0.216 billion, Services, Conglomerates, Oil And Gas sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Staco, Dangsugar, FCMB, FBNH and Cileasing were the most active stocks by volume. Fidelitybk, Total, Cileasing, UCAP and NAHCO emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while Oando, Unitybnk, Transexpr, Dangsugar and Jaizbank topped the losers chart.
