Nigerian bourse adds 1.17% on Thursday

The equities market closed on Thursday on a positive note as the All-Share Index increased by 1.17 per cent to close at 35,773.98 points compared to Wednesday’s closing rate of at 35,358.57points even as the Market Capitalization increased by N143 billion to close at N12.314 trillion as against Wednesday’s closing rate of N12.171 trillion.
The year-to-date (YTD) returns currently stands at 33.1 per cent
Dangote Cement Plc led the day’s gainers chart with N5 to close at N215 per share. Nestle Nigeria Plc followed, gaining N2.99 to close at N1223.01 per share while Presco Plc gained N2.95 to close at N61.95 per share.
Volume traded increased by 82.36 per cent from 174.069 million to 317.441 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 4.91 per cent from ₦2.720 billion to ₦2.853 billion in 3,327 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 230.224 million shares exchanged for ₦1.594 billion. Conglomerates came next with 29.58 million shares traded for ₦0.071 billion, Consumer Goods, Services, Healthcare sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Skyebank, UBA, Transcorp, Mcnichols and Access were the most active stocks by volume. Linkassure, Presco, Dangflour, Npfmcrfbk and Caverton emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while Cadbury, MRS, Continsure, Mobil and Lawunion topped the losers chart.
