Senate mace snatching: Suspended lawmaker, Omo-Agege arrested

 

The suspended lawmaker representing Delta Central Senatorial district, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has been arrested.

The arrest followed his alleged involvement in the snatching of Senate’s mace early on Wednesday when he was alleged to have personally led about seven thugs into the chambers.

After the incident, he stayed in the plenary while policemen were waiting for him to come out.

Omo-Agege could not be arrested in the chambers by policemen, who patiently waited, because of the immunity attached to lawmakers while in the gallery.

Emerging out of the chambers, He was whisked away as he emerged from the chamber in a black Hilux van which was also waiting at the main entrance of the White House.
