Osun 2018: Akinbade is the best says Mayowa Adejorin

…even as Oriade Local Government endorses him

A chieftain of the of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Hon Mayowa Adejorin has declared that among those angling to be the next governor of the state after Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade remains the best.

Besides, Adejorin who was a one-time Chairman of Obokun Local Government area of the state, insisted that it was the candidature of Akinbade that could guarantee the victory of the PDP at the governorship election of the state scheduled for September, this year.

The former Chairman made these declarations in Ibokun when the local government played host to Akinbade in continuation of his meet-the-delegates/party leaders’ tour.

“Akinbade is first among equals.  All leaders of our party in this state know the fact that he (Akinbade), is the best material that can guarantee us victory at the coming election. I say this with all sincerity and conviction unless we are deceiving ourselves. I know the social media and other press are here, so please quote me” said Adejorin unequivocally.

He said among those currently vying for the ticket of the party with a view to flying its flag at the coming polls, the former SSG stood out because of his solid political background and experience in public service.

Adejorin added that a cursory look at the campaign train of Akinbade, showed that he was prepared for governance especially with the array of technocrats, politicians and retired civil servants with him.

“For instance, since all aspirants have been coming here, none of them has been able to come with the team of Ex- Permanent Secretaries as paraded by Akinbade   This shows these people know his worth and clout to have chosen to be with him, more so having worked with him at one time or the other when he was the SSG”, he noted.

Equally, the party chairman in the local government, Hon Owoeye who spoke after others had commented, declared his support for Akinbade, saying: “I’m short of words. We have not been this honest and blunt to all other aspirants who had visited here before you”

Also at Oriade Local Government where he was enthusiastically welcomed by party leaders and members amidst dancing and singing, the erstwhile SSG’s aspiration received the needed boost as they assured him of their support at the coming party primary.

Speaking on behalf of others, the Chairman of the PDP in the local government, Honourable Jegede Olaosebikan, described Akinbade as a politician who understood the plight of the people and capable of cushioning the effects when he becomes governor of the state.

He recalled that it was through the ingenuity of the governorship hopeful that many offices such as Executive Assistants and others at the state and local government levels, were created which enabled many party members to be empowered during the administration of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola

Akinbade who had spoken earlier, said with his political experience coupled with the appointments he had held, taking off if given the mandate as governor of the state, would not be difficult for him.

He stressed that he had all it takes to be the next governor of the state having served in different capacities both in private and public life

He promised to use agriculture to drive the economy of the state through which thousands of employments would be created, stressing, “At the same time, we will ensure the industrialisation of the state while not neglecting other sectors”

He thanked them for standing by him, urging them not to be distracted by the antics of some people, adding ” we should remain focused and determined until we triumph both at our party primary which is around the corner and the governorship election. An average man on the street of Osun,is waiting for Akinbade. It’s me they are expecting to be fielded as our party’s candidate. Let’s conscientiously make this a reality and together, we shall take our dear state to greater heights”
