President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a warning signal to corrupt Nigerians ahead of his second term in office.

The president hinted that he will be ruthless in the fight against corruption in his second term, saying that those who call him “Baba go slow” will discover whether or not they are right.

The president said this during a prerecorded interview on Monday night as part of pre-inauguration events.

The president also spoke about insecurity in the country, promising to reform the police. He added that the Judiciary will also get his attention.

The president also thanked Nigerians for their support and solicited more support and understanding during his second term in office.

Responding to another question, he said he had not discussed ministerial appointments with anyone.

But Buhari said, “I have addressed the cabinet. I have said goodbye to them, at least, for the four years we were to attain by the 29th. I still haven’t discussed with anybody and you will not be the first person I will discuss it with.

“To begin with, when I addressed this cabinet, I said I was very pleased that we didn’t have any major scandal.

“I think that is a major achievement and if anybody who hasn’t got any evidence against any of my ministers, people have to trust me as to which of my ministers I will retain and which ones I will say goodbye and ‘very sincerely’ to.

“I didn’t go beyond that because I haven’t discussed with anybody yet.”
