NSE market cap gains N15.5bn on Monday

Investors at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) gained N15.5 billion on Monday, the first trading day of the week.

All Share-Index gained 8bps to settle at 27,950.36 points following price appreciation in DANGFLOUR (9.2%), NESTLE (0.8%) and GUARANTY (0.9%).

Investors’ wealth increased by N15.5 billion to N13.6 trillion while YTD loss settled at 11.1 per cent.

Also, activity level was weak as volume and value traded declined by 29.1% and 58.1% to 92.8m and N1.1bn respectively.

The most active stocks traded by volume were ZENITH (11.3m units), TRANSCORP (9.9m units) and FBNH (2.9m units) while NESTLE (N230.2m),ZENITH (N208.2m) and GUARANTY (N196.6m) led by value.

The Insurance index appreciated the most, gaining 0.6% on the back of gains in WAPIC (5.3%), AIICO (5.0%) and LASACO (5.7%).

Similarly, the Consumer and Industrial Goods indices inched up 0.4% and 0.2% respectively due to price appreciation in DANGFLOUR (9.2%), NESTLE (0.8%), CCNN (1.3%) and CUTIX (4.0%).

On the flip side, the Oil & Gas index lost 1.3% due to sell-offs in TOTAL (10.0%) and OANDO (1.3%).

The banking index also lost 2bps, driven by sell-offs in ETI (5.3%), ACCESS (2.3%) and ZENITH (0.3%).

The top performing stocks were CILEASING (10.0%), VITAFOAM (9.9%) and JAPAULOIL (9.5%) while the laggards were led by TOTAL (10.0%), CHAMS (7.1%) and ETI (5.3%).
