CAN commends FG on Sowore, Dasuki’s release

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has commended the Federal Government for ordering the release of the publisher of Saharareporters, Omoyele Sowore, and a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) as mandated by the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The CAN President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, described the gesture as a Christmas gift to the populace, adding that “it is a new dawn for our democracy.”

Reacting to the development in a statement on Tuesday, the Christian leader said, “The action of the government is commendable and it is a new dawn for democracy.

“As long as the Federal Government continues to respect the rule of law and the constitution, the Christian Association of Nigeria will continue to work with the government to ensure that there is peace and stability in the polity.

“We will not cease to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and his team for a successful tenure of office.”

The Christian leader said Nigeria should be a pace-setter on the continent.
