Kwara Govt urges media to disseminate accurate information on COVID-19
Kwara Government has urged the media to ensure dissemination of accurate information about COVID-19 in the state.
Mr Kayode Alabi, the State Deputy Governor and Chairman of Technical Committee on COVID-19, made the appeal at a meeting with general managers of all radio stations in the state as part of measures to control the pandemic.
Alabi explained that ignorance about COVID-19 and its potentially devastating effects could prove costly for the state, hence the need for radio stations to ensure dissemination facts about the disease.
He said that with the current rate at which COVID-19 was spreading globally and with no vaccine in sight, the best bet was sustained awareness and education so that people could stick to precautionary measures.
He said that prevention was the key.
He affirmed that Kwara had no COVID-19 case for now and gave assurance that the government of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq would continue to strive hard so that the disease would not imported into the state.
Alhaji Abdulmuhalee Adegboyega, the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Idofian, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, commended the government for being proactive and pledged their commitment to help in the fight against the disease. (NAN)
