UniJos adopts e-learning method to curb spread of COVID-19

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Academics of the university, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Jos.

According Ishaya, the school has adopted the new method in order to adhere to the safety protocols, such as social distancing, put in place against the spread of the dreaded virus.

He added that most lecturers had keyed into the new approach and begun teaching the students virtually.

The DVC said however that the university had not completely transited into the e-learning approach.

“To curb the spread of COVID-19 and align with the global practice, we have decided to make teaching and learning easy for our students and lecturers, using technology.

“I’m aware that some lecturers have started having classes with students virtually. This is happening at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

“This mixed model approach is to ensure that the safety protocols, particularly the aspect of social distancing is maintained and overcrowding in class addressed.

“We adopted the online teaching and learning in order to make life easy for for both students and lecturers in respect to tackling the pandemic,” he said.
