DSS rearrests former CBN Governor Emefiele
The Department of State Services (DSS) has rearrested Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), after a physical fight with officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).
The DSS operatives took custody of Emefiele after a scuffle with prison officials over the custody of Emefiele, who had been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The fight occurred in front of Justice Nicholas Oweibo’s courtroom at the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Shortly after the scuttle, the prison officials left the premises of the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Precisely at 03:03 p.m., DSS operatives escorted the suspended CBN governor out of the courtroom and into their waiting vehicle.
Godwin Emefiele was appointed governor of the CBN in 2014.
He was suspended by President Bola Tinubu on 9th June 2023 and later arrested by the DSS.
