NSE dips by -0.17% over sentiment trading

Equities market dropped by 0.17 per cent over sentiment trading by Investors in medium and large capitalized stocks, that include Dangote Cement Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, among others.
As reflected on the major market indicators, the Nigerian Stock Exchange All-Share Index (NSE ASI) and Market Capitalization depreciated by 0.17 per cent respectively.
The NSE ASI went down by 49.02 basis points or 0.17 per cent to close at 25,282.75 basis points from 25,331.77 basis points it opened for trading, while market capitalization shed N15.10 billion to close at N8.75 trillion from N8.765 trillion it closed on Wednesday.
Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, United Bank For Africa Plc and others on Thursday traded a total of 147.9 million shares worth N836.8 million on the floor of the Nigeria Stock Exchange.
7Up Bottling Company emerged the highest losers for the day table when it went down by 524 kobo to close at N99.66 per share.
It was trailed by Okomu Oil of Nigeria which slipped by 249 kobo to close at N47.39 per share, Dangote Cement Company dropped 100 kobo to close at N159.00 per share, UAC of Nigeria lost 50 kobo to close at N14.1 per share, while Ecobank Transnational Incorporated also depreciated by 38 kobo to close at N7.38 per share, among others.
On the other hand, Seplat Oil Company led the gainers’ for the day when it added 500 kobo to close at N405.00 per share, it was followed by Nigeria Breweries, which gained additional 100 kobo to close at N124.00 per share, Stanbic Bank appreciated by 49 kobo to close at N19.5 per share, Nestle Nigeria grabbed 30 kobo to close at N750.3 per share, while African Prudential Registrars recorded 12 kobo to close at N2.53 per share, among others.
Transnational Incorporated tops table as the most traded equity on Thursday with 28.072 million shares worth N25.668 million. It was followed by Diamond Bank having accounted for 24.977 million shares worth N21.781million, First City Monument Bank sold 13.802 million shares valued at N13.797 million; Guaranty Trust Bank traded 12.227million shares valued at N302.027 million while United Bank for Africa exchanged 9.867million shares worth N51.145million.
A total of 147.887 million shares valued at N836.8 million in 2,578 deals were traded on Thursday compared with 322.296 million shares worth N1.523billion in 2,907.00 deals recorded on Wednesday.
