
The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), in collaboration with Trail Trans Logistics Group of Companies of Russia, has concluded plans to formally launch an e-commerce platform that will boost the quantum of direct trade, both import and export, between Russia and Nigeria.
The official launch, according to LCCI, is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 21st June, 2016 at Henry Fajemirokun Hall, Commerce House, 1, Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Muda Yusuf, Director General of LCCI said: “The RuNiTrade e-commerce platform is a welcome development, coming at a time when Nigeria seriously needs forex from export as a way of diversifying the economy, and strengthening the non-oil sector. The focus, here, with this launch, is to strengthen the bilateral trade relations between Russia and Nigeria, and boost the economic activities between the two countries.”
The Director General further stressed: “The launch will feature B2B interaction between a delegation of Russian businessmen and their Nigerian counterparts on business opportunities available to willing investors in international trade.
“Also, expected at the launch are: President, LCCI, Chief (Mrs) Nike Akande, CON; Deputy Head of Mission, Trade and Economic, Embassy of Russia in Nigeria, Valery Shaposhnikov; President, Pskov Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Russia, Zubov Vladmir Anatolyvich and other notable dignitaries.”
Trail Trans Logistics, a Russian based group of companies and operators of the RuNiTrade e-commerce platform, noted that its partnership with LCCI is to add value to Nigeria’s international trade relations status and unravel the hidden treasures in doing business with Russia, as a big window to Europe.
The company’s General Director, a Nigerian based in Russia, Mr. Sampson Uwem-Edimo, in a statement said “the company is positioned to make bilateral trade relations between Russia and Nigeria a smooth one and to achieve this, we will continuously transmit news about Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy, to Russia. The move is a bold and aggressive attempt at stimulating investment flows between both nations.”
