NIPR seeks alliance with CAMCONIA on driving professionalism

The Lagos chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, has sought for collaboration of the Corporate Affairs Managers of Insurance Companies (CAMCONIA) on driving professionalism in the country.

CAMCONIA, at its monthly meeting, played host to the Lagos Chapter of NIPR, at the Nigeria Insurers Association (NIA) office in Lagos.

The NIPR delegation was led by its Chairman, Mr. Olusegun Mcmedal, who stated that the main purpose of the visit was to seek the support of CAMCONIA in driving professionalism in the practice of Public Relations in the country, with particular reference to the insurance industry.

Mcmedal added that the visit was necessary to educate members CAMCONIA on the need to become members of the Public Relations Professional body and leverage the advantages and benefits of joining the Institute.

According to him, “NIPR is a member of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communications Management, and member of the NIPR automatically confers membership of the Global Alliance, as well.

“The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management is the confederation of the world’s major PR and communication management associations and institutions, representing 160,000 practitioners and academics around the world, and is a not-for-profit organization based in Switzerland, whose mission is to unify the public relations profession, raise professional standards all over the world, share knowledge for the benefit of its members and be the global voice for public relations in the public interest.”

Responding to the visit, the Chairman of CAMCONIA, Mr. Tunde Odeyemi, thanked members of Lagos NIPR for their visit and assured the Chairman of Lagos NIPR of valuable support to enhance the practice of Public Relations in Nigeria,in alignment with the firm decision to strategically rebrand the insurance Industry.

Odeyemi, who is also the Head of Corporate Communications, Staco Insurance Plc, further added that members of CAMCONIA, who are not members of NIPR, will be willing to become members of the institute during the next induction of new members.

CAMCONIA is the Corporate Affairs Managers Committee of the Nigerian Insurers Association, set up by the NIA to seek a common ground in the growth of the Insurance industry in Nigeria.
