Market closes the week weak as investors lose N101bn

Equity trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed the trading week this Friday on the negative territory it has been operating for the better part of the week as investors recorded a loss  of N101 billion leaving the market capitalisation to close at N10.064 trillion from N10.165 trillion it closed on Thursday.

The All-Share Index closed at 29,305.40 basis points from 29,597.79 the value of which it closed the previous day’s trading. The market witnessed 189.743 million shares valued at N 2.226 billion traded in 3,486.00 deals.

The most advanced stock of the day was CONOIL N2.35 appreciation and from its opening value N23.1, it closed the day at N25.45; UNIONDICON which opened the trading activities at  N16.53 closed at N17.35 as it added N0.82; NESTLE which opened at N850 closed at N850.42 having added N0.42; CAP     which opened at N34.68 closed at N35 as it added N0.32; UNILEVER closed at N33.23     from N33.00 it began trade bargains as it added N0.23 to its opening value.

Nigerian Breweries led the losers’ chart at it recorded a price drop of  N6.9  and from the opening value N138, it closed at N131.1, GUINNESS recorded a loss of N4.28 and from the opening value of N109.25 it left the market at N104.97; WAPCO from the opening value N73.51, it closed at N70 as it dropped by N3.51; ETI, from it opening value of N16, it closed at N15.52 having recorded a loss of N0.48; STANBIC  closed at  N15.75 from the opening value N16.2 having been marked down by N0.45 per share.

The most traded stock for the day was GUARANTY with 47.683 million shares valued at N1.099 billion; FBNH traded 25.986 million valued at N101.253 million; ACCESS  traded 16.133 million shares at N92.087; TRANSCORP  traded 14.840 million shares at N26.538 million while NEM traded 11.964 million shares valued at N12.232 million.
