Bayelsa gov tribunal: Youths warn SGF, says we’ll resist injustice with their blood

…’Keep off, our women, grandmothers’ll protest naked on the streets’
A coalition of civil rights movement under the aegis of Bayelsa Arise, has asked the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal to distance himself from the forthcoming judgment of Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja.
The group, mostly youths, threatened to defend the results of the elections with their blood, saying he should keep off because “our women and grandmothers will protest naked on the streets.”
The organisation, with its secretariat at No 12 Njiaba Avenue, off School Road at Edepie in Yenagoa, premised its warning on intelligent reports it said it is at its disposal which indicated that the SGF was spearheading a plot to perpetrate the ‘black market’ ruling of Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
The coalition in a statement issued by its Executive Secretary, Luware Elliot and obtained by journalists on Friday in Yenagoa, alleged that Lawal was capitalising on his influence in the Presidency to buy judgment and install the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, in office through the back door.
He said, “We have been reliably informed that the SGF, Engr. Babachir David Lawal, who is a long standing friend of the governorship candidate of APC, Chief Timipre Sylva is the chief coordinator of a group behind the purported plan.
“The plan is to sway the Bayelsa State Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja to rule in favour of the APC candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva by declaring him winner of the December 5 2015 and January 9 2016 governorship elections.
“We are therefore using this medium to warn the SGF and his co-travellers to desist from their actions as Bayelsans will not take the Abia treatment meted to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. We are prepared to defend the election results with our blood. Our mothers and grandmothers will demonstrate naked on the streets of Yenagoa over whatever injustice they are planning.”
Chief Timipre Sylva, BA said, was relying on the SGF, Babachir David Lawal because it was through him and other key officials of the Federal Government he got the governorship ticket of the APC primaries in Yenagoa.
According to Elliot, Sylva has also mandated a pocket of his supporters to draw up a cabinet list hoping on the expected kangaroo ruling from the governorship elections petitions tribunal.
He said, “Timipre Sylva’s camp has also concluded plans for a thanksgiving service in a yet to be disclosed Pentecostal Church in case they succeed in their dastard architecture.
“We are therefore advising President Muhammadu Buhari to call the SGF to caution Babachir David Lawal and advise him to steer clear of Bayelsa state politics.”
