Market reverses losses as ASI appreciates by 0.15%

The equities transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed on a positive note today as the market All-Share Index appreciated by 0.15 per cent to close at 28,857.34 basis points, compared with the 0.14 per cent depreciation recorded on Monday.

Its Year-to-Date (YTD) returns currently stands at +0.75 per cent. Investors on the Exchange traded 207.623 million shares valued at N3.640 billion 4,542 deals even as the market capitalisation N9.911 trillion.

The topmost gainers for the day was led by NB N3.7 and from its opening value of N130.05, it closed at N133.76; WAPCO which opened the day trading activities at N60.45, closed at N61.48 as it added N1.03; ZENITHBANK, from N15.87, it closed at N16.41 having added N0.54; UACN added N0.23 to its opening value of N20 to close at N20.23               while ACCESS which opened at N5.4 closed at N5.6 as it added N0.2 to its opening value.

On the flip side, FO which opened the day trading at N171.9 closed at N163.31 as it was marked down by N8.59; GLAXOSMITH opened at N20.78 and closed at N18.77 as it recorded price depreciation of N2.01; PZ closed at N21.57 from its opening value of N22.7 having recorded N1.13 price drop. UNIONDICON came at N17.35 per share value but it left at N16.49 as it was marked down by N0.86 while STANBIC which opened t N15.77 closed the day market activities by N14.99 as it made a loss of N0.78 per share.

The most traded stock of the day was TRANSCORP  which traded 28.180 million shares at N41.007 million; GUARANTY  traded 25.525 million shares at N611.209 million; PRESCO  traded 13.118 million shares at N472.278 million; ZENITHBANK traded 12.885 million shares valued at    N210.416 million; FBNH  accounted for 11.963 at N45.326 million
