
The firm of Olisa Agbakoba Legal as co-lead counsel to Dr. UcheOgahhas urged the President of the Court of Appeal to grant accelerated hearing in the pending appeals before the court in relation to the ongoing Abia State governorship tussle.
Recall that the Federal High Court per Justice O.E Abang had in a judgment delivered on 27th June 2016 declared Dr. Uche Ogah as the elected Governor of Abia State and ordered the incumbent Governor, Dr. OkezieIkpeazu to vacate office.
According to a press statement by the chamber, “In spite of the orders of the Court, the incumbent governor has refused to vacate office claiming that he is still the governor and has appealed the judgment. This has created a situation of tension and unrest in the state”.
Agbakoba by the said letter, urged the President of the Court of Appeal to urgently set down the appeals for hearing and informed the Court that only an urgent hearing and determination of the appeals can return peace and stability to AbiaState.
