Market begins the week negative, down by N25bn
Investors in equities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) began trading week today with a loss of N25 billion as the market Capitalisation which began the week at N9.893 trillion closed at N9.868 trillion even as the All-Share Index came down from 28,805.45 basis points with which it left the market on Friday last week to 28,733.90 basis points today.
The market witnessed 3,976 deals as investors spent N1.725 billion on 315.578 million shares in the day.
The top gainer of the day was FO which rose from N180.28 to close at N194.9 having added N14.62; GLAXOSMITH rose from N18.05 to close at N18.6 as it added N0.55 to its opening value. OKOMUOIL which began trading activities at N31.28 closed at N1.5 as it added N0.22; ACCESS added N0.18 to its opening value of N5.4 and closed at N5.58 while AFRIPRUD rose from N3.09 to close at N3.2 as it added N0.11 to its opening value.
On the other hand, WAPCO led the day top decliners with N3.38 per share drop and from its opening value of N66.6, it closed at N63.22; NESTLE, from the opening value of N852, closed at N850 per share as it was marked down by N2.00; NB lose N0.95 per share and from its opening value of N134.03 it closed at N133.08; CADBURY closed at N16 from its opening value of N16.3 as it was marked down by N0.3 while OANDO completed the top-five losers of the day with N0.28 to close at N6.6 as against N6.88 per share it began the day trading.
The most traded stock by volume was SKYEBANK which traded N138.258 million shares at N88. 294 million; FBNH traded 36.890 million shares valued at N136.129 million; UBA accounted for 30.722 million shares valued at N140.041 million; ZENITHBANK traded 17.663 million shares at N289.451 million and ACCESS traded 10. 243 million shares at N55.838 million.
