Usman demands world-class service from ports operators

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms Hadiza Bala Usman, has demanded for world-class service from operators in the maritime sector.

She disclosed this in Lagos yesterday in her maiden meeting with operators in the sector.

Operators in the Nigerian Ports include shipping companies, terminal operators, service providers, stevedoring companies among others.

The new MD said she would ensure that operators deliver standard port service to its customers.

“As you all know, the country expects much from us all. Our ports are a critical artery of the economy and it is our duty to ensure that the operators deliver ports services at the standards that our businesses deserve in the 21st century in supporting President Muhammadu Buhari agenda of economic diversity.

Usman further said that the agency would strive to facilitate improved revenue for the Federal Government.

“We will strive for enhanced operating efficiencies to facilitate improved revenue generation and inflows into the national treasury.”

She stressed that the new management would prioritise investments in primary equipment and infrastructure and services with commitment to fulfilling NPA’s concession agreement to hasten clearance of imports and exports from the ports.

“Anything less than the world-class services are simply not acceptable. Attaining such height is the mission to which we can all subscribe to”. She said.
