Market reverses two-day gains as investors lose N54bn

Investors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) traded 270.722 million shares valued at N2.247 billion in 4,609 deals on Thursday. Market capitalisation of the market closed at N9.633 trillion and the All-Share Index  at 28,046.96 basis points as against N9.687 trillion and 28,205.62 basis points respectively on Wednesday, translating to a loss of N54 billion in the day trading.

The most appreciated stock of the day was MRS which rose from N35.19 to N38.78 per share it added N3.59 to its opening value. UACN rose from N20.51 to close at N20.73 as it added N0.22; GUINNESS added N0.2 to its opening value of N94 and it ended the day trading at N94.; PHARMDEKO rose from the value of N1.65 with which it opened the day trading and closed at N1.73having added N0.08; GUARANTY                closed at N23.5 from N23.47 it began the day trading activities as it added N0.03 to its opening value.

On the other side, NB led the top-five losers of the day as it came down from its opening value of N140 to close at N138.71 as it recorded a loss of N1.29; FLOURMILL, from  its opening value of N22.01, ended the day trading at N21.14 as it recorded a loss of N0.87 per share. ZENITHBANK which began the day trading activities at N16.8 closed at N16.31 as it was marked down by N0.49 per share; BERGER           recorded a loss of N0.4 per share to close at N7.63 from its opening value of N8.03 per share while ETI dropped from N13.28 opening value to close at N12.93 as it was marked down by N0.35 per share.

The most traded stock of the day was FBNH with 86.187 million shares at N289.795 million; GUARANTY traded 38.610 million shares valued at N902.105 million; SKYEBANK, 22.814 million shares at N16.201 million; ZENITHBANK, 21.852 million shares at N361.730 million; UBA, 14.539 million shares valued at N64.442 million.
