Market closes Friday weak as investors lose N112bn

Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed in the negative territory on Friday as investors recorded a joint loss of N112 billion as the Market Capitalisation and All-Share Index which opened the day trading at N9.531 trillion and 27,751.34 basis points closed today at N9.419 trillion and 27,425.86 basis points respectively.

A total of 120.844 million shares were exchanged by investors with the value attached of N1.266 billion in 3,307 deals.

TOTAL was the most appreciated stock of the day as it moved from its open value of N222.6 to close at N242.02 having added N19.42 to its opening value; MOBIL which opened at N170.1 per share closed at N178.6 as it gained N8.5; FLOURMILL opened the day transactions at N20 and closed at N21.98 as it was marked up by N1.98 per share. INTBREW began the day at N18.38 and closed at N19.00 as it added N0.62 to its value while OANDO added N0.34 to its opening value of N5.54 to close at N5.88 per share.

On the losers side for the day, SEPLAT led with price depreciation of N12.76 and from the opening price of N255.36 it closed at N242.6; 7UP moved from its opening value of N126.35 to close at N120.2 as it was marked down by N6.15; DANGCEM opened the day trading at N183 and closed at N180 having recorded a loss of N3.00 per share; NB opened the day trading at N135.00 and closed N133.03 per share having recorded a loss of N1.97 while CONOIL which opened the day trading at N25.22  to close at N23.96 as investors marked it down by N1.26 per share.

The most traded stock of the day was INTBREW with 17.819 million shares at N338.545 million; TRANSCORP traded 12.840 million shares at N15.495 million; UBA traded 10.848 million shares valued at N49.147 million; ACCESS accounted for 9.284 million shares at the value attached at N51.401 million and FBNH traded 9.034 million shares at N30.034 million.
