Market continues downward movement as investors lose N42bn

The trading activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) which began on a negative note on Monday continued along the same line on Tuesday as the All-Share Index and Market Capitalisation which closed at 27,394.98 basis points and N9.409 trillion respectively on the opening day of the week came down on Tuesday to 27,272.14 basis points and N9.367 trillion respectively as investors ended the day with a loss of N42 billion.

A total of 416.785 million shares valued at N2.161 billion exchanged in 3,443 deals.

The top gainer of the day was TOTAL with per share gain of N6.05 and from its opening value of N229.95, it closed at N236; NB followed with a gain of N0.3 and from its opening value of N130, it closed at N130.3; GUARANTY opened the day trading at N23.95 and closed at N24 having made a gain of N0.05; WAPIC which came in at N0.5 closed at N0.52 as it added N0.02 to its opening value while FBNH closed at N3.3 from its opening value of N3.29 having managed a gain of N0.01.

On the other side, MOBIL led the losers for the day and from its opening value of 178.6, it closed at N169.67 as it recorded per share decline of N8.93; SEPLAT came down from its opening value of N250 to close at N242 having been marked down by N8.00 per share; MRS, from its opening value of N40.6, closed at N38.57 as it was marked down by N2.03; DANGCEM began the day trading at N180, it closed at N179 as it lost N1.00 and INTBREW, from its opening value of N19, it closed at N18.05 it was marked down by investors by N0.95 per share.

The most traded stock of  the day was WAPIC which accounted for 153.858 million shares valued at N76.931 million; FBNH accounted for 69.075 million shares with the  attached value of N227.826 million; UBA traded 38.525 million shares at N174.448 million; GUARANTY traded 28.441 million shares at N682.136 million and FIDELITYBK with   19.019 million shares valued at N19.774 million.
