Market reverts to negative territory as investors lose N48bn

After a day respite, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) reverted to the negative territory on Thursday as the Market All-Share Index and Market Capitalisation which closed at 27,421.83 basis points and N9.418 trillion respectively in the previous day’s trading ended on Thursday at 27,280.95 basis points and N9.370 trillion respectively, resulting in a joint loss of N48 billion by investors.

Investors exchanged 243.608 million shares valued at N2.556 billion in 3,647deals.

The most traded stock of the day was ZENITHBANK which accounted for 39.295 million shares with the value attached of N625.632 million; GUARANTY traded 39.206 million shares with the value attached of N962.770 million; ACCESS’s                 37.346 million shares attracted N208.621 million; WAPIC traded 33.255 million shares at N17.330millio and DIAMONDBNK with 28.191 million shares in N33.911 million.

The top price gainer of the day was led by FO which moved from its opening value of N166.82 to close at N169.56 having added N2.74; INTBREW rose from the N18.88 per share it opened the day trading to close at N20 as it enjoyed per share appreciation of N1.12; GUINNESS             added N0.75 to its opening value of N95.00 to close at N95.75.STANBIC  rose from N13.5 per share opening value to close at             N13.90 per share as it gained N0.40 per share while DANGFLOUR  was able to add N0.17 to its opening value of N4.17 to leave the market at N4.34.

The top decliner of the day was 7UP which opened the day trading at N107.86 but ended at N102.6 as it was marked down by N5.26 per share by investors; TOTAL recorded a loss of N5.00 per share to close at N235.00 per share as against its opening value of N240 per share; CAP opened the day trading at N33.40 and closed at N31.73    as it made per share loss of N1.67; WAPCO opened at N51.50 to close at N50.20 as it lost N1.30 per share while NB recorded a loss of N1.03 per share and from the opening value of N132.95, it closed at N131.92        per share.
