Guinness leads gainers as investors lose N5bn

There was reversal of fortune on The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in Tuesday trading as bears took over proceedings making both the All Share Index and market capitalisation to close in the negative territory at 28,248.86 and N9, 704 trillion as against 28,263.16  and N9.709 trillion respectively  on Monday. Investors made a loss of N5 billion in the day trading transactions.

The market traded 294.91million shares valued at N1.413 trillion in 3,142 deals

GUINNESS led the gainers in the day trading as it rose from its opening value of N93.00 to close at N97.64            as it added N4.64 to its opening value. NESTLE added N1.00 to its opening value of N825.00 to close at N826.00; FLOURMILL rose from its opening value of N21.04 to close at N22.00 having gained N0.96 per share. UAC-PROP added N0.34 to its opening value of N3.4 to close at N3.74 while INTBREW completes the top-five gainers’ table as it added N0.15 to its opening value of N19.85 to close at N20.00 per share.

On the other hand, PRESCO  recorded a loss of N4.00 per share to close at N41.00 from its opening value of N45.00 per share;  CONOIL opened at N39.00 to close  at N36.00 as it was marked down by N3.00; 7UP, from its opening value of N144.55, it closed at N142.5 as it recorded a loss of N2.05 per share; ASHAKACEM  was marked down by N1.93 and from its opening value of N19.95, it closed at N18.02 while FO from its opening value of N160.15 closed at N161.00 having recorded a loss of N0.85 per share.

The most traded stock of the day was  LIVESTOCK  which traded 104.598 million shares valued at N89.955 million; FCMB traded 43.924million shares valued at N46.819 million. UBA  traded 20.155million share with the attached value of N84.507 million; DUNLOP  accounted for 19.944 million shares at N9.972 million and GUARANTY                  traded 18.662 million shares valued at N466.447 million.
