Governor Umahi applauds CBN programmes

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi has commended the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria Mr. Godwin I. Emefiele of his prudent management of the nation’s economy.

Governor Umahi gave the commendation in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State on Thursday, September 28, 2016 at the gala night of the Finance Correspondents and Business Editors seminar that held in the state.

Passing a vote of confidence on the CBN Governor, the Ebonyi State Chief Executive said CBN was doing quite a lot as many states in the country would not have been able to pay salaries without the intervention of the apex bank.

We urged naysayers to desist from playing politics with national issues saying that the nation needs patriotic and God fearing people to succeed.

Umahi also commended CBN on the Commercial Agriculture Credit Scheme (CACS) and Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP). The Governor said the Country will not need to import Rice anymore as the Apex Bank twin programme is helping Ebonyi to improve and enlarge its Rice production.

He explained that the State evolving an agricultural scheme called “one man, one hectare” so as to attain food security for the State and country.

The Ebonyi State Governor who just came back from China on foreign investment tour said to ensure that agriculture ventures in the State become profitable, a Chinese system of irrigation will be deployed. He added that recession the country is experiencing presents opportunity to diversified the economy.

Some Commissioners and State Government officials were present at the event include Barr. Augustine Nwankwagu (Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General), Dr. Denis Ekumankama (Commission for Finance and Economic Planning)and the Branch Controller, CBN Abakaliki, Mrs Obiageli Obiekwe.

Departmental Directors also present at the gala nite include Ms Chizoba Mojekwu (Capacity Development Department), Alhaji Ibrahim Mu’azu (Strategy Management Department), Isaac Okorafor (Corporate Communication Department) and former Director, Corporate Communication Department, Maxi Ugochukwu Okoroafor.
