Boko Haram releases 21 of the kidnapped Chibok girls
A total of 21 out of about 300 abducted girls by Boko Haram have been confirmed released.
The Senior Special Adviser on Media to President Mohammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu confirmed the release of the girls on Thursday morning through a social media post.

Though some of the parents are still not sure whether their children are among the batch of the released girls notwithstanding they could not stop in joining in the celebration of the news.
Report says communities like Ymir Ali, Njoma, Gwandan Rimirgu, Mikabu as well as Chanchan bulguma in Askira Uba axis of southern Borno went on wild jubilation on hearing the cheering news of the release.
“The names of the released girls follow shortly,” Shehu said.
Reacting to the news of the release, President Muhammadu Buhari said “As I depart Abuja for Germany on an official visit, I welcome the release of 21 of our Chibok Girls, following successful negotiations,” He said on Twitter few minutes after the news broke out.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) has briefed me on the matter, and will continue to provide updates.
“Cooperation on the security & humanitarian situation in the Northeast will form a significant part of my discussions with Chancellor Merkel,” the president said.
Boko Haram kidnapped about 300 female students from a secondary school in Chibok on April 14, 2014. More than 50 managed to escape on the day they were captured.
Since then, there has only been one confirmed release since then. In May, 19-year-old Amina Nkeki was found carrying by the Civilian JTF.
