The Games, which is also co-sponsored by a soft drink making company, BIG Cola, will see 16 media chapels competing in the football category, while there will equally be competition in scrabble, table-tennis, basketball, among others.
Speaking at a Press Conference and Football Draws for the game in Surulere, Lagos, the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ), Lagos State Chapter, Mr. Deji Elumoye, said the event starts on October 24 and ends on October 29, noting that the game is strictly for journalists as the use of mercenaries to prosecute games in this year’s edition will not be allowed.
” This year, the use of mercenaries will be reduced to the barest minimal and a committee has been set up to address this. For now, we have 16 media chapels registered for the game. The match is going to be a five-aside football team and will play 20 minutes in each half,” he said.
Apart from reporting news and events, he said the game was meant to show that journalists can also excel in games, such as this.
