Market opens the week weak as in investors record N25bn loss
The trading transaction on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened the week on Monday on negative territory as the Exchange All-Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization decreased by 0.27 per cent, while the Year-to-Date return stood at -4.97 per cent.
The All Share Index closed at 27,220.09 against the previous close of 27,294.21 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦9.350 trillion against previous close of ₦9.375 trillion, translating to a loss of N25 billion by investors on equities on the NSE.
Volume traded increased by 48.13 per cent from 148.448 million on Friday to 219.898 million on Monday, while the total value of stock traded increased by 73.95 per cent from ₦1.080 billion to ₦1.878 billion in 3,955 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 182.35 million shares exchanged for ₦0.496 billion. Consumer Goods came next with 16.224 million shares traded for ₦1.157 billion, Healthcare, Conglomerates, Oil And Gas sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Wapic, Sterlnbank, UBA, Access and Fidelitybk were the most active stocks by volume. Learnafrca, Dangflour, AIICO, MRS and Continsure emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while Transcorp, Meyer, Wapco, 7Up and Oando topped the losers chart.
