Nigerian bourse down in N8tr territory as investors record N63bn loss
Trading in equities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange opened the week on negative note as the market All-Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization decreased by 0.70 per cent, while the Year-to-Date return stood at -9.27 per cent.
The All-Share Index closed at 25,986.81 against the previous close of 26,170.88 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦8.946 trillion against previous close of ₦9.009 trillion as investors recorded a joint loss of N63 billion in the day trading.
Volume traded decreased by 92.88 per cent from 2258.780 million to 160.908 million, while the total value of stock traded decreased by 57.64 per cent from ₦2.635 billion to ₦1.116 billion in 2,431 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 97.478 million shares exchanged for ₦0.511 billion. ICT came next with 33 million shares traded for ₦0.017 billion, Consumer Goods, Conglomerates, Oil And Gas sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
MTI, UBA, Wemabank, Guaranty and Diamondbnk were the most active stocks by volume. Maybaker, Wapic, Livestock, Mansard and Access emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while FO, Honyflour, Cadbury, NASCON and Oando topped the losers chart.
