S’Court victory: Dickson salutes judiciary
…says it remains foundation, stability of democracy
Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson on Wednesday reiterated his call on political leaders at all levels to support the judiciary, saying it remains the foundation of the nation’s democracy and stability.
The governor who spoke at a grand reception in Yenagoa, honouring him over the Supreme Court ruling, which validated his election, said the society would disintegrate, if the Judiciary is threatened in the course of performing its statutory role.
While dedicating his victory to God and the people of the state, the Governor saluted the courage and resilience demonstrated by all the judicial officers that adjudicated on the election petition filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva.
Dickson expressed joy over the show of solidarity by a tumultuous crowd that received him at Mbiama, a border town between Bayelsa and Rivers States.
He thanked them for their support all through his travails leading up to the Supreme Court judgement.
Dickson said now that litigation matters are over, he would be more focused to consolidate on the development efforts of the government, towards completing all on-going projects and embark on new ones.
The governor called on members of the opposition parties to join his administration to build Bayelsa state.
Dickson warned youths of the state not to allow themselves to be used as agents of destabilization to create crises.
In his remarks, the State Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Rtd), said with the validation of Governor Dickson’s mandate, the efforts of the founding fathers would not be in vain, as the present administration is poised to take the state to the next level.
Delivering goodwill messages, Secretary to State Government, Chief Serena Dokubo Spiff, Senator Nimi Barigha Amange, Chief Thompson Okorotie and Chief of Staff, Government House, Rt. Hon. Talford Ongolo, described Governor Dickson’s victory as divine and urged all to support his administration to enable him record more achievements.
