FEC receives interim reports from Task Force on food shortage
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has received interim reports from the Presidential Task Force on food security.
The reports submitted on Wednesday recommended the use of railway wagons alongside the current railway network to move cattle from North West to Lagos and other parts of the country.
It also recommended the reduction of multiple taxes for transporters of local food items, saying that such taxes delayed the movement of goods from one end of the country to another.
The Federal Government has also adopted measures to boost local production of tomatoes.
Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh and his Counter-part in Investment, Trade and Industry, Okey Enelemah made the disclosures while briefing State House Correspondents at the end of Wednesday meeting of the Federal Executive Council in Abuja.
According to him, the recommendations were contained in the interim report of the Task Force submitted to FEC.
Ogbeh also dismissed the reports that Nigeria was really experiencing food shortages.
