Volume down by 84% on Monday trade on NSE
Volume of shares traded on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday decreased by 83.55 per cent from 593.869 million to 97.694 million, while the total value of stock traded decreased by 99.28 per cent from ₦94.264 billion to ₦0.683 billion in 2,634 deals.
Also, the market began the week on a bearish note as the market All-Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization decreased by 0.95 per cent, while the year-to-date return stood at -5.96 per cent as investors made a loss of N84 billion.
The All-Share Index closed at 25,273.03 against the previous close of 25,516.34 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦8.745 trillion against previous close of ₦8.829 trillion.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 78.196 million shares exchanged for ₦0.351 billion.
Consumer Goods came next with 6.015 million shares traded for ₦0.117 billion, Conglomerates, Oil And Gas, Services sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Fidelitybk, Diamondbnk, UBA, FBNH and Stanbic were the most active stocks by volume. UACN, Nascon, Dangsugar, CAP and Mobil emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while Eterna, Total, Guaranty, Dangcem and NB topped the losers chart.
