Equity investors on NSE gain N71.2bn on Wednesday
The equities segment of the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed bullish on Wednesday when major market indicators, the All Share Index and market capitalization appreciated by 0.81 per cent respectively.
The All-Share Index closed at 25,471.69 points after it appreciated by 205.54 basis points or 0.81 percent from 25,266.15 it closed on Tuesday, while market capitalisation added N71.2 billion, to close at N8.813 trillion from N8.742 trillion it closed on the previous day.
The oil marketer, Mobil Oil led the gainers’ table when it added by N32.28 to close at N347.28 per share, followed by 7Up bottling company, which added 889 kobo to close at N95.89 per share, WAPCO gained 442 kobo to close at N47.62 per share, Forte Oil grabbed 100 kobo to close at N46.00 per share, while Oando Oil recorded 53 kobo to close at N5.78 per share, among others.
Pz Cussons Nigeria, led decliners’ table when it went down by 72kobo to close at N13.87 per share, followed by Ecobank Transnational Incorporated which slipped by 39 kobo to close at N8.05 per share, Nigeria Breweries dropped 20 kobo to close at N124.8 per share, United Assurance Capital Nigeria lost 11 kobo to close at N15.01 per share, while Tran-nationawide Express depreciated by 8 kobo to close at N3.23 per share, among others.
Fidelity Bank emerged the most traded equity Wednesday with an exchange of 49.422 million shares worth N39.094 million. Followed by Zenith Bank having accounted for 24.344 million shares valued at N351.751 million, United Bank for Africa exchanged 10.521 million shares valued at N55.202 million; Guaranty Trust Bank recorded 10.436 million shares valued at N252.921 million while Transnational Incorporation of Nigeria traded 7.206 million shares worth N5.240 million.
A total of 158.705 million shares worth N1.127 billion in 3,048.00 deals exchanged hands on Wednesday.
