Investors in equities market lose N294.5bn on Tuesday
Investors trading on the equities market of The Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) lost N294.5 billion on Tuesday as surge profit-taking in Dangote Cement Company Plc and the Nigerian Breweries Plc, among others, resulted in marked decline in market indices.
Market capitalization depreciated by 2.25 per cent to close at N12.786 trillion from N13.081 trillion it closed on the previous day.
Also, NSE All-Share Index went down by 854.36 basis points or 2.25per cent to close at 37,096.60 basis points from 37.950.96 basis points it closed for trading on Monday
Building material major, Dangote Cement, led decliners’ table after it depreciated by N10.00 to close at N225.00 per share, it was trailed by Nigerian Breweries which lost 300 kobo to close at N190.00 per share.
Other top losers on Tuesday included Lafarge Africa, Wapco, dropping 299 kobo to close at N60.01 per share, Forte Oil slipped by 250 kobo to close at N51.5 per share, while CAP depreciated by 205 kobo to close at N38.95 per share, among others.
