Osinbajo assigns portfolios to new ministers
Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has assigned portfolios to Stephen Ocheni from Kogi State and Suleiman Hassan from Gombe State who were recently sworn in as ministers.
This was disclosed by his spokesman, Laolu Akande, in a tweet on Wednesday on his personal handle @akandeoj.
He said the new ministers were now ministers of state under the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing.
“AgP Osinbajo assigns portfolios to the 2 ministers earlier sworn in. There are now 2 Ministers of State in Power, Works & Housing Ministry,” he tweeted.
It is a move apparently meant to reduce the work load of Babatunde Fashola who has been solely responsible for the ministry.
Ocheni was appointed to replace late James Ocholi who had been Minister of State for Labour and Productivity his tragic death on automobile accident, while Suleiman is a replacement for Hajia Amina Mohammed who resigned to take up an appointment with the United Nations.
Both ministers were cleared by the Senate in May.
