IPOB activities should be put under check- Willie Obiano
The All Progressive People’s Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate and the governor of Anambra State in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State, Willie Obiano has maintained that the decision of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), to use the armed forces to put an end to the unchecked act of terrorism by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), remains a right step in the right direction.
Obiano whose position was contained in a statement dated September 13, 2017 and issued by the Independent Media Support Organization (IMSO), also declared that it was high time the activities of IPOB members be put under serious check.
The statement quoted Obiano while speaking at the Friends of Obiano inaugural dinner party which took place in at the Amawbia Governor’s Lodge, as saying “I want to use this forum to heartily congratulate the Nigerian Army for running to our aid at this critical time in our nation’s history. He also said that he has provided and make free the old Oba Airport for the military’s camping and promised to make every logistics available for the efficient discharge of their duty in checkmating IPOB activities in the state.
“The situation before now was as if IPOB had silenced governments in Southeast. And we politicians have been living under the fear of being labelled saboteurs and lynched for not expressing solidarity on IPOB movement.
“I have made available the old Oba Airport for the military’s stay to be able to discharge their duty efficiently.
“Nnamdi Kanu is an impossible character, and no one dares caution his unchecked act of terrorism with IPOB in the region.”
The governor who also charged members of the armed forces operating in the southeast to make sure nobody is given the opportunity to move around the streets clan in Biafran flags and other survenirs, said “The unity of Nigeria is not negotiable.
“It is unlawful to declare state of Biafra in an existing country, it is quite regrettable seeing brainwashed Igbo youths endangering their lives, and hoping that Nnamdi Kanu’s style of agitation would yield positive results.
“Nigeria is one and will always be. Our ancestors did not bequeath this nation on us to be spilling blood, therefore any one found with Biafran flags on our streets should be arrested.
“IPOB cannot continue to cause unnecessary tension in Southeast. we must all rise to end it.
“We cannot continue to keep quiet, enough is enough, IPOB is a security risk and should be contained.” the governor concluded.
