Market closes negative again as investors lose N141bn Tuesday
For the second day running, trading on The Nigerian Stock Exchange closed negative on Tuesday as the All-Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization decreased by 1.15 per cent while the year-to-date return stood at 30.05 per cent even as investors record N141 billion.
The All Share Index closed at 34,951.27 against the previous close of 35,358.73 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦12.048 trillion against previous close of ₦12.189 trillion.
Volume traded increased by 366.92 per cent from 107.148 million to 500.300 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 164.86 per cent from ₦1.367 billion to ₦3.621 billion in 3,120 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 448.227 million shares exchanged for ₦2.538 billion. Conglomerates came next with 19.343 million shares traded for ₦0.028 billion, Consumer Goods, Industrial Goods, Healthcare sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Continsure, Sterlnbank, Access, Mansard and Transcorp were the most active stocks by volume. Neimeth, NASCON, Mansard, Honyflour and Cileasing emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while Intbrew, Mcnichols, Continsure, Aglevent and Lawunion topped the losers chart.
