Senate Committee queries Adeosun, Udoma on budget 2017 implementation
The Senate on Tuesday drilled the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and her Budget and National Planning counterpart, Senator Udoma Udo udoma following what it called poor implementation and releases so far made out of the N7.4trillion in funding the 2017 budget.
The Senators, who frowned at the poor implementation of the budget, warned that if the situation is left uncorrected and improved on, it would be very inimical to the fate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the next election.
The body stressed that the release of less than 15 per cent of the N2.177 trillion voted for capital projects in the 2017 budget was unacceptable.
Worried by the huge gap in the capital budget and the actual amount to be released, the senators warned that the trend could cause serious injury to the economy and grave danger to governance.
Both ministers appeared before the Senate Joint Committee on Finance and Appropriations where members of the Committee asked them various questions ranging from revenue profile to what had been released so far to the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs of government.
