Moghalu named guest speaker at Goddy Jidenma Foundation 2017 Public Lecture

Former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu has been confirmed as the guest speaker at the 2017 edition of Goddy Jidenma Foundation [GJF] Bi-annual Public Lecture scheduled to take place on November 15, 2017 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos.
He would be speaking on The Challenge of Economic Growth in Nigeria. Goddy Jidenma Foundation (GJF) is a non profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2007, in memory of Arc Goddy Nwaolisa Jidenma who lived most of his life in the service of humanity.
He was a typical servant leader, while he lived. He was a student leader and later served Anambra State as Commissioner for Works & Housing and later Commissioner for Commerce & Industry. He served as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Papal Visit of His Holiness, Pope John Paul II for the beautification of Blessed Rev Father, Cyprain Iwene Tansi at Anambra State in 1998.
The objectives of the Foundation are to promote the spirit of selfless service and support ethical leadership initiatives, to celebrate the human essence, promote self-discovery among the youth, support philanthropic activities and significantly contribute to thought leadership in Nigeria and Africa.
The Foundation is led by a Board of Trustees whose members are highly respected people in the society who share these ideals. The Chairman of the Foundation is Prof Pat Utomi, a renowned public intellectual and Founder/ CEO of CVL [Centre for Values in Leadership].
The BOT of the Foundation was previously led by Prof Ben Nwabueze,SAN,NNOM,CON from 2007 to 2015 and Otunba Dr Bola Kuforiji-Olubi (OON) of blessed memory in 2016.
The Foundation has embarked on several projects since its incorporation such as instituting prizes and awards in excellence and public speaking in several schools across the country. The schools include Loyola Jesuit College,Abuja, Birch Freeman High School Surulere, Pacelli School for the Blind, Nnamdi Azikiwe Secondary School Abagana and Ezike High School Nibo, in Anambra State. It is engaged in philanthropy.
It promotes thought leadership through its bi-annual Public Lecture series which focuses on strategic and contemporary issues. The guest speaker at the GJF 2017 Lecture, Prof. Moghalu served as Chairman of the Boards of Directors of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) and the Financial Institutions Training Centre. He was also Member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) and the global Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI).
He previously worked for the United Nations for 17 years at duty stations in New York, Cambodia, Croatia, Tanzania and Switzerland. He rose to the highest career rank of Director and led successful work in accountability and regulatory reform as a Member of the high-level Redesign Panel on the UN Internal Justice System appointed by Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2006 (at the political level rank of Under-Secretary-General) at the request of the UN General Assembly.
The Redesign Panel overhauled the accountability and dispute resolution framework for the 60,000-member staff and management of the UN worldwide. He also successfully led senior UN assignments in national reconciliation and nation-building in fractured societies in Asia, Africa and Europe, and raised billions of dollars for social investments in developing countries by The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria in Geneva, Switzerland.
Moghalu was educated at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) where he obtained the Ph.D. and M.Phil. degrees; The Fletcher School at Tufts University where he obtained the M.A; University of Nigeria, Nsukka (LL.B.; and the Institute of Risk Management in London, UK. He is also an alumnus of executive education programs at Harvard Kennedy School, Wharton; Harvard Business School; and the International Monetary Fund Institute.
He is the recipient of several honours including the Nigerian national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB) of Nigeria, and the Honorary Doctorate degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) Honoris Causa awarded him by Anambra State University.
