Nigerian bourse records 0.08% drop on Wednesday

The bear maintains its grip on the Nigerian Stock Exchange as market closed negative on Wednesday as it did on Tuesday. The All-Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization decreased by 0.08 per cent, while the year-to-date return stood at 36.34 per cent.
The All-Share Index closed at 36,641.52 against the previous close of 36,669.61 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦12.613 trillion against previous close of ₦12.622 trillion.
Volume traded decreased by 6.25 per cent from 211.874 million to 198.635 million, while the total value of stock traded decreased by 38.08 per cent from ₦4.742 billion to ₦2.936 billion in 3,543 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 162.946 million shares exchanged for ₦2.354 billion. Consumer Goods came next with 15.396 million shares traded for ₦0.402 billion, Conglomerates, Services, Industrial Goods sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Guaranty, Sterlnbank, Access, Fidelitybk and Zenithbank were the most active stocks by volume. Glaxosmith, Custodyins, Learnafrca, Jaizbank and ETI emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while Nahco, Lawunion, Caverton, Transcorp and Nascon topped the losers chart.
