Nigerians condole with Tinubu over loss of son, Jide

 

Nigerians from across political divide have been sending message of condolence to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the death of his son, Jide.

His death was announced through a memo sent to members of the‎ All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos by the Chairman of the party in Lagos, Chief Henry Oladele Ajomale.

The memo reads:‎ “Dear Members, ‎It’s with regrets that I inform you of the demise of Mr. Jide Tinubu, the son of our dear and esteemed Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.‎ Please commiserate with him.”

The statement, however, did not provide details and the circumstance under which he died.

However, ‎a family source was said to have explained that he died in London after battling with an undisclosed illness.

The source said that his father and other members of the family had been very anxious about his health.

Jide studied at the University of Liverpool, England where he graduated with a degree in law. He obtained a master’s degree in Maritime Law from the University of London and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999.

He served as Promoter of TSL Limited and also worked in the Legal Department of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited from January 2000 to September 2001.

Prior to this, he had brief stints with Cargo Maritime in Paris, France, a firm of shipbrokers that specialized in petroleum product tankers, and Ocean and Oil Services Ltd.

The Speaker, House of Representatives on Wednesday commiserated with All Progressives Congress, APC National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu over the demise of his son Jide.

The Speaker in a statement issued in Abuja said: “I commiserate with our national leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the demise of his son Jide.

“I was shocked to receive the sad news of the sudden death of Jide Tinubu.

“The late Jide was a lawyer of high repute who cut his teeth in the maritime sector and was hardworking and enterprising.

“It is saddening that a father buries his son. I can only imagine your pain and grief at this time.

“I pray God Almighty to grant you and your family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, the statement concluded.

Former Vice President and frontline All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Atiku Abubakar has expressed shock and anguish over the sudden death of Jide, the son of his political colleague and friend, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a personal message by the Waziri Adamawa, Atiku commiserates with the Tinubu family counselling them not to lose faith in the will of Allah despite the oddity of the present pain and challenges they may have found themselves in.

“Nothing happens in this world without the will of Allah. How long we live or when to die is all ordained by the Almighty. But it’s most heart-breaking for any parent to bury his or her own child. I pray that Almighty Allah would grant the Asiwaju and Senator Remi, his wife, and the rest of the family the fortitude to bear this huge loss”, Atiku said.

The former Vice President also called on men and women of goodwill, friends and associates to rally round the Tinubus in prayers as they brave their moment of grief and loss of a dear family member.

“My family and I are deeply saddened over the death of this and promising young man. We are touched and are praying fervently that our brothers and sisters who are suddenly bereaved would pull through this difficult time with trust and faith in the Creator who gives and takes at His command.”

The Waziri Adamawa prays that Allah (SWT) will comfort Asiwaju Tinubu and his family and grant the soul of the departed al Jannah firdaus.

Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has condoled with the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Bola Tinubu, over what he called the depressing news of the death of his son, Jide.

In a statement by his Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka, the governor expressed regrets that the cold hands of death have snatched another promising and ebullient young man.

Ajimobi described the sudden death of the APC national leader’s son as not only shocking but also, unfortunate and disheartening.

The governor said: “My dear Asiwaju, please accept my heartfelt condolences. On behalf of myself, family and the good people of Oyo State, I pray that God will give you the strength and courage to bear this monumental loss.

“My thoughts and prayers are with you in this trying period. With Jide’s death, the country has lost another shining star and future leader. May the Almighty comfort his wife, children and the entire family”.
