Obiano of APGA wins Anambra governorship election

 

The incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won the governorship election conducted on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

According to the results released Sunday by INEC, Obiano won in all the 21 local councils with a total of about 234,071 votes even as the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr.Tony Nwoye came second

Oseloka Obaze of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) emerged third while Osita Chidoka of United Progressives Party (UPP) came a distant fourth.

The UPP candidate, Chidoka, has already conceded defeat, saying he lost to superior financial power.

Anambra election went down in history as being the governorship election with the highest number of candidates, 37, in Nigeria’s electoral history.
