Osinbajo to attend World Economic Forum in Davos this week

 

*Represents Nigeria at inauguration of Liberia’s President-elect George Weah today

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will today attend the inauguration of President-elect of Liberia, George Weah, in Monrovia, Liberia.

Weah won the country’s presidential runoff election on December 26, 2017.

From Monrovia, Prof. Osinbajo will proceed to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the 48th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting taking place from the 23rd – 26th of January, 2018.

The theme of this year’s edition of the WEF is “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World”, with emphasis on finding ways to reaffirm international cooperation on shared interests on matters such as the global economy, international security and the environment.

While in Davos, Prof. Osinbajo will hold a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of other countries, international business interests and development partners.

There will also be a special forum specifically for Nigeria, which involves engagement and interaction with Development Finance Institutions and Global Institutional Investors in support of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the Buhari administration.

Furthermore, the Vice President will also participate in other meetings and events at the WEF billed to be attended by several heads of governments from around the world.

The Nigerian delegation at the World Economic Forum will include the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udo Udoma, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okey Enelamah, and the Special Adviser on Economic Matters to the President, Dr. Adeyemi Dipeolu.

From Davos, the Vice President will depart for the United Kingdom by the weekend where he will deliver the keynote address at the Warwick Africa Summit, which will focus on exploring the potential of the continent’s overall development

Osinbajo departs Abuja this morning and is expected back by the weekend.
