…there will be no imposition, PDP assures him
A former Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, on Monday, formally picked his governorship form from the Peoples Democratic Party headquarters in Abuja.
To this effect, Akinbade, a leading contender in the race for the state governorship seat at the election scheduled for September this year, had on Friday,(8/6/18),paid the mandatory sum of six million naira into the coffers of the party.
The former SSG who is currently on holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj, was however represented by a delegation led by Mr Dele Akinola, a retired Permanent Secretary in the state.
He said with the hurdle of obtaining the party’s form scaled, he was confident of not only emerging as the PDP candidate at the primary slated for July, but would as well become victorious at the September polls as the new governor of the state.
“My confidence is anchored on the unimaginable outpouring show of love and support from our people across the state, who on a daily basis, bombard me with calls and visitations, all in a bid to urge me on. Their ‘we-are-solidly-behind-you’, message of support is real.
According to the Ogbaagba-born Prince, he did not want to take their support for granted which informed why he has been moving round the state in order to further acquaint himself with the problems on ground with a view to cushioning them when he assumes power if elected.
“Besides, I am divinely backed by God for this assignment of rescuing our dear state currently at the doldrums. Though the task ahead may look daunting, however, I have the conviction that the situation is not beyond redemption with God and the valued support of our people, The state shall soon be enveloped with joy through the delivery of purposeful leadership when we take over” Akinbade assured.
The governorship hopeful urged contenders in the party to ensure that the forthcoming primary of the party, was rancour-free, adding that their unity would be key for the party to triumph at the polls.
Speaking at the occasion on behalf of the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, Barisrer Hassan Yusuf, the Deputy, National Organising Secretary, prayed for Akinbade’s success while assuring him that era of impunity in the party, was gone,
“The era of impunity is gone while imposition is dead in the rebranded PDP. So,you should go and win for the party if given the ticket” Yusuf charged.
Others who represented Akinbade include Honourable Kunle Omolola, Alhaji Suleiman Bello (See Bee), Honourable Sikiru Araoye, Engr Olagbaju, Mr Femi Ayedun, Dr Romoke Edu ,Princess Abiodun Olatundun, Alhaji Taofeeq Adekola, and Chief Kehinde Olayiwola.
